Do You First: 5 Critical Reasons You Should Focus on Yourself

Good morning, my dear friend. Please, “do you first”.

In this cruel world, you are first, a human before you become anything else. You have “You” first before you could have any other thing. The world needs heroes but you must first be a hero to yourself before the world can crown you one. Fighting for you, defending you, taking care of you, and protecting you is not selfishness as the world portrays it.

Don’t ever feel guilty about choosing yourself first because when you lose yourself, the world will move on and will function properly without you.

Choosing what you want may not go down well with everyone around you but you are the only one seeing what God is showing about you. Some decisions you make about yourself will not go well with others but run with them as long as you have carefully strategized and filtered them.

Nobody will define you the way you define yourself. It is when you can’t define “You” that everyone will have a definition of you.

The power of “You” can be taken away from you and that is when people control your life indirectly.

  • Be Focused on your goals.

When you set goals, it is better to give timelines and when you do, you become accountable to these goals. To this end, distraction is not needed. You will be able to perform better to achieve your goals.

Your goals are important and when you focus on yourself, you will accomplish more than when you are thinking about other people.

  • Better understand your emotion.

Focusing on yourself enables you to have self-reflection. This will in turn help you to master your emotions. “What gets me nervous, angry, happy, sad, anxious, reluctant, etc.” are the questions you will find answers to when you focus on yourself.

  • Improve your relationship with others

Having mastered your emotions, you will be able to act accordingly around people and this will enable you to have healthy relationships- family, colleagues, lovers, etc.

  • Reduce Stress

Creating time for yourself is a good way to avoid burnout. While making ends meet is important, giving your mind time to recharge and relax is good for your mental health. If you walk away from unnecessary conversations, you will get a fresh perspective on important things and resultantly reduce your stress.

  • Increase Productivity

The more you can focus on your life, the more you will be productive. This is a situation of cause and effect.

Rip off unnecessary relationships and tasks and focus your strength on productivity.

On a final note, it is important to note that nobody can believe in you the way you believe in yourself.

In everything you do, always choose yourself first. Whether it is in a relationship, career, work, or religion because all these things will remain even after you are gone.

You are important,

Please protect and save “You” first.
